September 29, 2015

Have you ever wondered how to properly cook quinoa and add this super grain to your diet?

Well, fear not, we are here to help.

Quinoa is a grain that is healthier than rice and cooks in half the time, although the procedure is more or less similar.

It is super healthy and some of the ways to including it into your menu are tossing it into soup or cooking it separately as a side dish.

Today’s recipe covers quinoa as a side dish that you can pair with grilled meat, fish for us non-vegetarians or fresh or steamed veggies.

  • 1 tablespoon of butter or olive oil
  • 1 cup of uncooked quinoa
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 cups of veggie or chicken broth
  • ¼ cup of lemon juice, optional

Step By Step Preparation

Melt butter or preheat olive oil in a saucepan. Add garlic and let it roast over medium heat, stirring constantly. Add quinoa, stirring occasionally. Add broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and leave to cook for about 15 minutes. Season to taste, add lemon juice and serve warm.
