Healthy and Delicious Homemade Banana Nut Chip Ice Cream

October 3, 2014

Have you ever wondered how to make your own ice cream, but never felt like ordering the useless and often overpriced equipment for it?

Not to mention that you can never be too sure how healthy it is to dump all that sugar and “special” cream into the mixture.

Well this amazing recipe is wonderful because not only is it extremely easy to make with ordinary fruits, nuts and syrup, but you never have to add any sort of processed sweetener or special ingredient.

  • 3 Bananas, Sliced and Frozen
  • 1 Table spoon of maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped toasted walnuts
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chip

Make sure that your bananas are already sliced into medium sized chunks, or whatever preference of size you have, and have frozen them for an hour in a sandwich bag.

Place the frozen bananas into a food processor and process them for a few minutes. Make sure that there are no large chunks, so you may have to repeat the process until it forms into what looks a little like soft serve ice cream. At this point you should add in the cinnamon and maple syrup and pulse the mixture until it is combined.

Remove the mixture to a Tupperware bowl or other freezable bowl and mix in the nuts and chocolate chips. Place in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Check it every 30 minutes or so; you want to get it before it freezes completely solid, so that it is firm but edible. Remove and bam! You have your own healthy, homemade ice cream!
