Let’s get crackin’!

  • 3 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup margarine (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • Colored sugar in various colors
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Step-By-Step Preparation

  1. Take flour, baking powder, and salt, sift it, mix together and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the margarine and sugar, mix until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. Slowly and gradually add the sifted ingredients to the mix. When the ingredients become one homogenous mass, cover the dough and let it sit for 2 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and grease up the cookie sheets.
  5. Flour your clean working surface and roll out small portions of chilled dough. Make sure the portions are not thicker than 1/4 of an inch, then use your cookie cutters to cut out the cookies in various shapes (Christmas tree, snowman, and candy cane are some of the most common shapes). Use the colored sugar to embellish the shapes (white, green, and red are most popular colors).
  6. Bake up to 8 minutes, or until edges are barely brown, then remove the cookies from sheets to cool down.

And voila! Your mouth-watering Christmas themed cookies are ready to bring joy to your home.
