5:2 Diet still Number 1

The 5:2 diet, better known as the Fast diet, is still leading book sales around the world. Written by Dr. Michael Mosley, the Fast diet revolves around intermittent fasting.

The idea is that you eat normally, but smart, 5 days of the week. Then, come the weekend or whatever 2 days a week suites you, you cut your daily intake down to a quarter of what it normally would be: around 500 calories for women and 600 for men.

Periodic fasting has not only helped thousands around the world lose weight since the Fast Diet came out, but it has been a staple of many human cultures and religions for generations.

The diet not only teaches responsible eating, but it helps a person develop a sense of self.

Since the daily amount of food to be consumed is carefully watched, a person is forced to pay more attention to their body’s natural signs to tip them off when they should eat.

The awesome thing about this diet is that it can fit in with a variety of other effective diets. One combination that comes to mind is the chrono diet being combined with the fast diet. Chrono dieting is based on tuning the body to be more apt at digestion during certain times of the day, and when coupled with fasting, this would turn your body into an efficient fuel burning machine.
