With just three or four ingredients, “dump cake” is the ideal lazy day recipe. Your kids will love it – and after you’ve supervised them once or twice, they can probably make it themselves.

You can tweak the cake mix and fruit fillings to create an endless array of flavors – far more than the four variations I’ve collected here.

Don’t expect an elegant confection that looks like it came from a French bakery – it’s called “dump cake” for a reason. But it will surely satisfy your sweet tooth.

Use a good quality pie filling and you’ll get at least one of your daily fruit servings. And we all know how essential chocolate is for emotional well-being.
