Researchers from the University of Graz in Austria claim that the vegetarian diet actually has adverse effects on one’s health.
According to the same study, vegetarians are at a higher risk of developing cancer and heart disease, and are more likely to have psychological problems, including depression and anxiety.
Non-vegetarians who participated in this study had a higher overall quality of life compared to vegetarians and vegans, such as better social relations and life satisfaction.
Given the fact that for every proponent of the vegetarian diet there is at least one opponent advocating a meat-based diet, the debate about which dietary regime is healthier is clearly still going strong.
