Here’s Why You Should Never Skip Breakfast

April 21, 2017

You probably know about the following expression: “ breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” That’s because this statement is quite true and we’re here to remind you why.

In order to stay healthy you need to be on some kind of a balanced diet plan that will make sure you are getting all the nutrients your body requires.

And every healthy diet plan requires a nice, balanced breakfast.

People who tend to skip their breakfast every once in a while (or god forbid even more often than that) are generally less healthy than those who have breakfasts every day.

Let’s see why exactly.

Skipping Breakfast Is Bad For Your Heart

Numerous studies over the years have shown that eating breakfast regularly is crucial for your overall health, including your blood sugar levels.

Harvard conducted an in-depth research studying 26,902 American men aged 45 to 82 and concluded that those “who skipped breakfast had a 27 percent higher risk of CHD compared with men who did not.”

This basically means they were much more susceptible to heart attacks due to coronary heart disease associated with bad sugar levels.

Skipping Breakfast Hinders Your Memory

Another research published in the Journal of Adolescent Health focused on the benefits of short-term memory in humans.

They studied 319 adolescents (aged 13-20 years) and found that “high energy intake from breakfast had a beneficial effect on immediate recall in short-term memory evaluated on the whole sample.”

So, if you want to keep your brain sharp and your concentration high, you better eat a healthy breakfast each day.

Skipping Breakfast Drains Your Energy

Making sure your breakfast is high in fiber and low in carbohydrates will ensure more energy for your body throughout the day, making you feel less tired.

If possible, eat whole-grain breads and cereals as these should provide your body with at least four grams of fiber per serving, which is more than enough to get you through the entire morning.
