Fibers To Help With Weight Loss

February 27, 2015

While some diets forbid the consummation of fibers due to believing they can sabotage your weight loss, recent discoveries are leading us to a different conclusion.

Less Rules, Less Stress

A team of researchers from the University of Massachusetts took matters into their own hands and tested whether fibers can actually make a diet more effective and easier to follow.

And their findings were kind of unexpected.

Unlike eating plans which tend to restrict the dieter from consuming certain foods, a high-fiber diet is there to encourage you to increase your intake of fiber-packed foods.

With this kind of ‘freedom’, you’ll most certainly find dieting more appealing than when it forbids you from eating something.

Enjoyable Dieting

Barbara Olendzki, one of the co-investigators on the study and assistant professor medicine said: “A high-fiber diet can be filling and tasty, making it a pleasure to eat while losing weight and improving health and well-being.”

According to the study, both restricting and permissive diets are effective at weight loss, but the latter is much easier to follow.

In the end, it comes down to your preference. But if you like less rules and more freedom in your eating plan, you should probably go for a high-fiber diet.
