2. Lemonade Diet

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, right?

Well the Lemonade Diet, also known as the Master Cleanse Diet, also known as the Detox Diet, is based upon belief that life’s lemons are actually life’s secret to a clean, efficient body.

This is another diet that has been around for a while. Sometime around the 1940’s, someone came up with the idea that the crisp, refreshing taste that comes along with a cold glass of lemonade must have the same effect for your body.

The diet encourages a mostly liquid meal plan which involves lots of water and lemonade, along with some other more unconventional dieting aids like tree sap and cayenne pepper. A practitioner of the Lemonade Diet is supposed to fast for a period of 3-7 days, consuming nothing but the “detox” drink they create.

The reason this diet is such bunk is because there is no proof whatsoever that lemonade or any other fusion of liquid the diet encourages has any more effect at filtering toxins and other things from our system than our own organs do. Plus, you’re starving yourself! Of course you are going to lose weight! But just like any bad diet, the weight will come right back once the diet is off.
